Gracie's first visit to Rupp Arena for a UK Game
from http://www.dennisandsarahcook.blogspot.com/
By the way, after 2 bathroom trips, and a visit to the snack bar, she was ready to leave with about ten minutes left in the first half! We left at half time and watched the rest at mom and dads!

Update
from dennisandsarahcook.blogspot.com
Well, the head lice issue has come and gone. We are still checking, but things are back to normal at our house. A good friend of ours got it, though. And we are hearing about it going around at the school...I hope that Gracyn did not pass it off to anyone other than Sarah.
We are praying hard for a man here at HBC. He was in a car accident on Saturday night and has left him in a bad situation. He has a wife and three kids...help us pray for him.
This past Sunday at church, we had our bonus rehearsal. This was our last bonus before Christmas. We are singing songs from Michael W Smith and a couple of other composers. A little outside the box, but that is good every once in a while...
This coming Saturday we visit Lexington again and Gracyn and I will be going to her first UK basketball game together. More on that to come...
This coming Sunday, we are having our Thanksgiving fellowship. Church-wide pot-luck at 5 and we welcome back the Crossmen Quartet at 6:30. You are invited to come and attend this free meal and concert.
Cold weather is here...everyone is coughing and sneezing around. Let's take care of our families and enjoy this upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Head Lice
Well, just writing the title of this blog makes me shiver a little. Gracie came home yesterday morning at 11 am with head lice. It seems that no matter how much you wash your hair (we shampoo and condition Gracie's each evening), lice can make your head a home if given the chance.
It seems that she got them from headphones which are shared with a child who has come to school with eggs in her hair many times this semester. Her computer lab is first, then Gracie is assigned to come to that computer. They don't clean the headphones and students are allowed to come to school with lice eggs in their hair as long as they are not live lice yet.
Needless to say, Gracie has been through a lot over the past 24 hours. Sarah has even had a small bout of it, too. Alex and I are ok and Gracie has a clean head now. Our pillows are bagged up in the garage and our carpet is freshly shampooed.
We complained enough to get them to clean the headphones but many school systems are allowing kids to come with eggs in their hair. I don't think its right because Gracie's perfect attendance streak is now over and we are out a lot of money for cleaning supplies, medication and 24 hours of missing work to care for 2 family members who contracted it from NHES.
Head lice is not health threatening. It does not mean that we don't wash Gracie's hair. It is only transferred from one head touching another head directly. It is just a huge inconvenience to us all on a weekend that we needed time for to just chill out at home...
We still have a long way to go this week to check hair for 7-10 days morning and night and continue to do loads and loads of laundry. Also, we need to set up Christmas stuff this weekend due to our busy schedule...so pray for our health and that we can spend some healthy family time together soon!

Random Update
Everyone is sick...I have had drainage/cold for a week now. Sarah is drained, the kids have had a cold since like April.
Sarah's mom and grandmother are sick...mom is having a test done this week and my Granny is having a procedure done today.
Let's get over this sick stuff!
Christmas comes to the Cook Ranch this Saturday. After a brief visit to the OC, we will be putting our tree up.
Next weekend, we plan on being in Lexington and I hope to get tickets to the UK/Delaware State basketball game and take Gracyn. It would be her first UK basketball game.
Things at church are going very well. The Christmas cantata is coming along nicely. The Crossmen will be here Sunday night, November 23 at 6:30. More updates later.

Dr Albert Mohler's Response to the Election Results
(from www.albertmohler.com)
The election of Sen. Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States came as a bang, not a whimper. The tremors had been perceptible for days, maybe even weeks. On Tuesday, America experienced nothing less than a political and cultural earthquake.
