Mother's Day and Baby Cook

Well, I hope Sarah had a GREAT Mother's Day. Saturday we went to Bowling Green and bought some clothes for her and had a nice, quiet meal. On Sunday the family went to Cracker Barrel for lunch after church and I took the kids outside once we got home so Sarah could nap.

While in Bowling Green, we registered for some baby stuff...I know with the third child you would think we didn't need anything?!?! We don't expect to get anything off of it from people, just a glorified shopping list for us as we get closer...wanna see it? Here it is: http://www.target.com/registry/baby/GUOD9TO8VG6H short and sweet.

Mom had a birthday on Mother's Day this year. We will be getting with her this weekend and celebrating. Hope she had a great day. I called her and the kids called later and sang "Happy Birthday" to her.

We have a baby doctor's appointment this Friday after school...We will soon be deciding when we are going to have this baby. Sarah thinks 38 weeks, which will put us 5 1/2 weeks away! WHEW! Sarah has been nesting around the house...nothing major, though. We have a lot of work to do before the baby comes. The kids are really getting excited...and so are we!

Happy Birthday Gracie

Gracie is 6 today!!!

We are so proud of her! She has turned into a very smart, funny, silly, and flirty girl! She loves going to AWANA and being outside. She is reading and doing math in the upper level of the first grade and acing her spelling tests. She is a good little helper around the house (sometimes) and she is excited to see the new baby.
Just six years ago, Sarah and I held her in our arms for the first time and didn't know what to expect. God has truly blessed us with all of our children.
Today, she will have a couple of visitors at school and then we will take her out for supper. Saturday, she-along with a few of her girl classmates-will go to the Malco party room for a birthday party and then see Hanna Montana the movie. On Sunday, we will have a small family party after church.

Easter 2009

What a great weekend!

This year, for Easter we started out on the Saturday before with a choir dress rehearsal and then an Easter Egg Hunt at HBC. After that, Wayne had put eggs around our house, so the kids did more egg hunting...Sarah put the kids in their Easter outfits and took pictures in our yard Saturday night. These are some of the best she's taken!

On Sunday, we had our choir cantata (I am thankful when Easter is in April...because we have more time to work up our Easter music!), communion, and an extended worship service. It was a great service. We cancelled services that night so we were able to eat lunch with mom and dad, and then go to OC to visit with our family.

Prayers

We all have so many things going on in our lives...one of the most important things we can do is pray. Sarah has a very stressful job. Sarah is also pregnant. Stress plus a pregnancy does not equal anything good. Teachers are not paid enough for all he work they do and for the "stuff" they have to go through. Please keep her, our family, and our baby in your prayers.

Odds and Ends

This week is spring break. This past Friday and Saturday, we went to Cynthiana and Lexington to pick up a set of bunk beds from Sarah's aunt. We are re-arranging some things in the kids room to make room for the crib! See blog from yesterday. Alex started being sick Saturday night when we got home. Storms came through basically as soon as we got home and we went to church to make sure we were safe. Turns out Alex had a stomach virus and he gave it to me on Monday night. We are praying that Sarah and Gracie do not get it.

Also, on Friday, Billy Gillespie was fired as head basketball coach from the University of Kentucky. I am totally ok with this move. He made his bed and now has to sleep in it. I don't care if he lost more games in two years than few other coaches. Even if we made the tourney I would still not approve of his actions to the UK student-athletes.
On Wednesday, April 1, (no April fool's joke here) former Memphis head coach, John Calipari was announced as UK's newest coach. Lots of good reading about it here: http://johnclay.bloginky.com/

Kid Room Update

from www.dennisandsarahcook.blogspot.com

Sarah has been working hard on her spring break this week to re-arrange the kids' rooms in preparation for the baby coming in June(ish).

Here are the pics. More will come as we add the crib, etc back into the fold.

Baby Stuff...

Sarah is doing very well in her pregnancy. She is surrounded by stress in the schools, but other than that, she is doing great. We are anticipating the birth of the baby. We are going to rearrange some things over spring break. We have a lot of stuff saved from Alex's clothes, but here are some little things we've bought over the past few weeks:

Bye Bye Billy?

According to Kentucky Sports Radio, we will know Friday if Billy Clyde is still the head men's basketball coach at the University of Kentucky.

Here is their story from this morning:
http://new.kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=16202

I am ready to see him go. There is more to being the UK head coach than just coaching and recruiting. Off the court antics with the press, the visual ridicule of players on national television, the statement that he was not going to be the ambassador of UK...all this comes together to make a case against him.

When you coach at UK, you aren't just the coach of the players on the court, you are the voice of the fans, and the national face of the state. Wins or losses aside, the off the court antics are more detrimental to your career than making the tournament or not.

20 years of RIOT

Over twenty years ago Doug King and 8 teens at Beaver Dam Baptist Church planned out an Ohio County teen crusade. While sitting in the basement of BDBC I wonder if they knew that RIOT would be going strong 20 years later.

I was at BDBC the year riot started. I have been at BDBC every year but two for RIOT during this 20 year span.

Now my cousins who were very little when I was a teen are carrying the RIOT torch.

God has blessed Doug and BDBC with this ministry. Hopefully we will be celebrating 20 more years!

Here are pictures of Gracyn's first day at gymnastics. Yes, we started gymnastics tonight in Tell City. We have been on a waiting list for a while, and got the call last week. She had a blast and I had fun watching her do push-ups!
